Knitting Chart Generator: Share Your Design
| Posted by Charles Jaimet on Nov 1, 2010 |
Well, this weekend my kids collected more candy than I have containers to store it in. Not sure quite what to do with it all, but that's nothing you have to worry about.
I also added a link at the bottom of the color chartmaker that you can cut and paste into your knitting website or knitting blog to link directly to your chart.
This won't take you to the color chart with all the tools on it to edit, but instead to a page that shows the chart, the title and your comments. Click the preview link to see what everyone else will see. This way you can show off your design and not worry that someone will change it. Here's what the world will see:

What? Someone could change my design? No. Not even with the tools on the page. The only people who can change your color charts are you and me, and believe me, your charts are safe with me. "But I can change the charts in the Shared Charts section," I hear you cry (well, maybe 'cry' is too strong a word, 'mutter' might be better). Actually, you can't. When you 'edit' a chart in the "Shared Charts" section you're actually copying it to your account. The original stays the same.
I've toyed with the idea of letting members share their designs with others so they can make copies. Not sure if it's a good idea. I'll probably have to work on the design so it's clear that your charrt won't get changed if you share it. It won't.
