Book Sneak Peek: Knit Your Own Cat

Did you see Knit Your Own Dog: Easy-to-Follow Patterns for 25 Pedigree Pooches, when it came out? Lovely book on how to, well, knit your own dog. Charming, and somehow quite dignified photographs of knitted dogs throughout. The Jack Russell is my favourite. I  blogged about it in March, take a look at the gorgeous photography.

And now the same authors have written a sequel: Knit Your Own Cat: Easy-to-Follow Patterns for 16 Frisky Felines. The paperback will be available in February, I can't wait, because (don't tell anyone) I'm more of a cat person than a dog person. It's their unapologetic hedonism and quiet disdain that I admire.

According to the publisher, Black Dog and Leventhal, the book will include patterns for Abyssinian, Maine Coon, Bengal, Orange Cat, Black Cat, Persian, Black & White, Ragdoll, British Shorthair, Siamese, Burmese, Tabby, Devon Rex, Tortoiseshell, Kitten and Turkish Van cats. I think you can advance order on Amazon.

The authors Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne run their own knitwear business, Muir and Osborne. They have an upscale shop in London and export their knitwear to stores worldwide and several pieces of their knitwear are in the permanent collection at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

I definitely will buy a copy to knit my siamese! Love this book. How do I get a copy to give away on my blog to promote it? I will also review it.

Ha, I can't wait to see the cats that people make with this.

I just received a copy today, will try out a "Tabby Prowling" first. The most hypoallergenic cat you can get.

In an unofficial statement from the publisher, I'm just going to tell you that I know of at least one person currently using her cat's fur* instead of the yarn suggested by Sally Muir and Joanna Osborne in their book!

*fleas not included in the sale of each book.

hahaha this is fantastic!

I am immersed in the fiber and spinning world, so for a moment I thought it was about spinning FROM your cat's fiber! haha

Love all the kittens patterns :)
