I recently worked with a knitter who finished a sweater in two days. (She attributes her accomplishment to a very long train ride.) But how about a sweater that gets finished in two decades? |

![]() I'm enjoying the unusual colour combo, it reminds me of spumoni icecream: cherries, pistachios, chocolate. And now the tricky part: not getting too distracted. The next step is knitting the sleeves in the round from the bottom up, my least favourite part. Read More >> |

![]() It's the middle of April, and while some folks are blogging about the first crocus or a day at the beach, I'd like to broach the topic of ice pellets. Read More >> |

| Knitting montage | |

![]() We're slowly adjusting to the time zone, although I'm just realizing that I don't ever get those 3 hours back. Like daylight savings but worse. Weird anticlimax of working like a nut, then trying to get back on the horse. Bizarre mixed metaphors aside, this seems like a good time to take stock. It isn't New Year's day, but I kind of worked through that. So I'm reviewing my photo folders to refresh my memory on what I've been up to. And I'm pulling the cheap trick of a photo montage, like they do on TV. Some things published, some things not. Some just little photos that haven't found a home yet. Read More >> |

![]() They Say that it takes one day to recover for every time zone you cross when going east. What do They know? I always find it takes longer. Culture Shock item #37: Q with Jian is on CBC at 10am here. Okay, so that's probably the same as BC, but it felt 3 hours too early. Sneak peek of a new pattern, sample knit by Jan Malone. ![]() Where am I? What is this white stuff? Last thing I remember, someone put me in a bag with a panda and shoved me in a suitcase. Next thing I knew, I'd lost 3 hours and the sky was falling. Read More >> |

![]() Spring will get here. Right now, I could be tricked into thinking it's already spring. The alders are rosy with pollen (sorry hay-fever sufferers) and a million birds are twiddley-dee-deeing in the yard. If you're thinking ahead to warmer weather, you might be thinking of different knitting projects: shorter sleeves, cooler fibres, eyelets. Wow, my marketing patter is pretty flowery today, eh? ![]() Some people have a real knack for making critters. I don't have that knack, but have been messing around with some farm animal themes. Had to share this one. I love it that, as wonky as he is, he still has some piggish quality. Mostly the pink of course. Read More >> |

![]() I'm so glad to announce the Chandelle Cowl. I don't (usually) allow myself to wear a sample before it's published; superstition I guess. And the Chandelle is so lovely and luxurious, there have been so chilly winter days where I almost wore it. Capra's merino cashmere blend is fabulous. Read More >> |
